"Why Am I Afraid of the Dark?" is a comics assignment for the University of San Francisco's Illustration class. The topic of the comic was freeform, myself having used a mix of fantasy and reality to depict a childhood fear of the dark. I experimented with the use of a limited palette and the use of lines to depict effects and shadow to try and portray to the reader the sense of fear and the point of view a child who is afraid of the dark experiences.
This piece as well as "Eyes Off, Paws Off" was presented at USFCA's 19th Annual Junior/Senior Gallery and was awarded the "Mary & Carter Thacher" Honorable Mention for originality and presentation in relation to the topic.
